Electrical engineering + hands-on design

Matthew McConnell

I build embedded hardware, PCB systems, and visual engineering projects that turn ideas into working machines.

01

PCB systems

Custom boards for sensing, safety, telemetry, and vehicle data.

02

Embedded tools

Interfaces, controls, firmware workflows, CAN, and ESP32 systems.

03

Visualization

Photorealistic renders for hardware, vehicles, and design stories.

Selected work

Projects with real hardware behind them.

Rendered Formula SAE race car

Formula SAE context

Engineering work shaped by testing, iteration, and team constraints.

Many of these projects come from Sun Devil Motorsports, where clean design has to survive real packaging limits, noisy data, changing requirements, and the pressure of making the car work.

About

Electrical engineering student at Arizona State University.

I regularly work on custom hardware projects including PCB design, embedded systems, and prototyping, with a focus on clean design and practical performance. As part of ASU's Sun Devil Motorsports Formula SAE team, I collaborate on real-world engineering challenges that require rigorous testing, iteration, and teamwork.

I am driven by curiosity, attention to detail, and the satisfaction of building things that work well.
